Welcome to the Camgirl Q&A Serieswhere we take an inside look into the world of camming from the people who know it best – the girls themselves! It’s always fun to see the different perspectives and experiences that come with camming, since each journey is so individual. If you have any question suggestions, share them in the comments below!
Q: How long have you been camming?
A: 6+ years! I was part-time for a long time. I made a difficult decision to leave my full time career to teach yoga/aerobics and do SW. But I became a full-time SW in 2020 (for obvious reasons).
Q: What has surprised you the MOST about camming?
A: How much I enjoy chatting with people. I have made some great connections over the years and have a vested interest in their lives. Also, it surprised me how much guys are obsessed with dicks. Why are dudes so obsessed with dicks??? Guys, women do not care as much about dicks as you think they do.
Q: How open are you about your camming with others?
A: Very little. I wouldn’t say I have that many friends to begin with, but a few of my friends know. But they don’t really know all that’s involved. It’s a bit more challenging to answer questions about what I do around family when I don’t have other jobs as a cover. It’s just so hard to tell people unfortunately.
Q: Is there anything that helped you become more comfortable camming?
A: Wow, tough to say. Positive feedback from fans helps for sure. Having other models to talk to is great as well. I suffer from impostor syndrome, so I’ve been forcing myself to repeat affirmations before I get online to pump myself up. (Yes! You can do it!)
Q: What item under $50 is a camming “game changer”?
A: Lighting is the obvious answer here. A stand with a ring-light is a great for making phone videos. Also, a realistic looking dildo can be nice to have. The ones with the suction and balls are quite versatile. Another option would be back-up drives or cloud storage. I use pcloud, and it’s really helpful to have because I can access it on several devices.
Q: Are you saving up for anything special right now?
A: Nothing in particular at the moment. Another phone with a quality camera is on my wishlist.
Q: How different is your “cam persona” to the real you?
A: It’s pretty similar. But the things that people say to you while camming is completely different than what they would say in person, so it’s not a direct comparison. You can’t really walk up to women and tell them they have a nice ass in real life, but this is acceptable behavior online. So my cam persona is not terribly different from my real personality, just nicer, lol.
Q: What has been your most memorable camming moment?
A: A moment that stands out to me is when I wasn’t sure about getting a lovense lush, but I made back the money I spent and then some the first time I used it. (Absolutely! Lush 3is a must for any camgirl!) And, while that was a great day, the best overall memory is the connections I’ve had going back several years with fans/friends. We even have a fantasy football league.
Q: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start camming?
A:
Know the rules of the site you are working on. And follow them. Don’t risk losing future income for one boner.
Additionally, there is so much work that models do offline that is unseen. The amount of money you make is often relative to the amount of time you have to spend on those things.
Overall, it’s a fun and flexible career unlike any other. BUT it’s not for everyone.

Q: What is your preferred cam site/subscription site?
A: Chaturbate has been my preferred website for camming. They provide a huge amount of traffic and it’s a great place to start if you don’t have a large following, because you don’t have to worry about bringing your own traffic with you.
Q: How long have you been camming?
A: I’ve been camming for 3 years in December.
Q: What has surprised you the MOST about camming?
A: What surprised me the most about camming is the love and acceptance within the community. The sex-worker community is so open, accepting, caring and loving. Everyone kind of looks out for each other, even if you don’t really know each other!
Q: How open are you about your camming with others?
A: I’m so lucky that I can very open with my friends and family that I cam full time for a living. Most of them have been very accepting and are curious about it, but not in like a nosey kind way, in a general caring kind of way. I have yet to have anyone in my personal life judge me negatively for choosing to do this.
Q: Is there anything that helped you become more comfortable camming?
A: Being in my own bedroom is what kept me in my comfort zone when I first started camming and remembering that I could shut down at any time if I felt uncomfortable. Being able to ban people helps too. I played my favorite music that I quickly started dancing to to keep myself busy during the slower times, and one of my roommates is my moderator, so I know I’m always in good hands.
Q: What item under $50 is a camming “game changer”?
A: LED Light Bars!! You don’t need fancy photography lighting! I bought two cheap 5000k daylight led light strips from a hardware store and they light up my room perfectly. They have served me well from 720hd all the way to 4K!
Q: Are you saving up for anything special right now?
A: I’m not currently saving for anything special thanks to the pandemic, however I always make sure to save as much as I can because you never know when traffic slows down or when you want to take time away for a little vacation. (So very true! Saving is so important when you have income that can be unstable – See my post on how to manage your money as a camgirl).
Q: How different is your “cam persona” to the real you?
A: My cam persona vs the real me are only slightly different. My personality generally remains the same, however I do filter or re-word things I would normally put very bluntly when somebody starts getting on my nerves — in my room we say “This isn’t Willy Wonka’s Chocolate Factory, we don’t sugar coat shit here!” — so let’s just say my “customer service voice” has to kick in once in a while haha.
Q: What has been your most memorable camming moment?
A: My most memorable moment camming so far had to be my birthday for 2020. The turn out was wild and we did some pretty wicked things that night!
Q: What advice would you give to someone wanting to start camming?
A: My best advice when first starting is:
SAVE as much money as you can, esp. if you don’t have a second source of income. If you don’t have something to fall back on, the slow times can financially make or break you.
Don’t expect to get rich quick, but keep at it and enjoy what you do and eventually the viewers will come to you.
Be yourself, they will fall in love with who you are. Then you’ll have it made!
Also, start simple — you don’t need to go broke with your very first set of equipment (i.e camera and computer), anything running 720 will be more than enough for you to start out with. Give it a year or so, if you’re still sticking it out and climbing the ranks, then consider starting to re-invest your money back into new equipment. (Very wise! I agree with that as well. Don’t get too overwhelmed buying the “best” equipment right off the bat – start small. Check out my post on starting camming on a limited budget).

What are the highest paying cam sites around? Since one of the biggest considerations in picking a camming site is how much they pay or what the payout percentage is, it is important that you know your options and pick the site best for you. It isn’t not the only element that makes a camsite “the best” or the most popular, but it certainly provides a big advantage. It is a huge perk to keep MORE of the money you are tipped by members, and not have the camsite itself take a sizable chunk.
These are my picks for the Top 5 Highest-Paying Webcam Sites as of 2021, and I recommend you go through the list, try them out, and see which ones feel best to you.
Award-winning cam site that combines new cutting edge technology, a world-class support team and millions of visitors each day. Accepts female, male, couple, and trans performers.
You may have noticed that two of the most popular sites on the net are not present on the list – Myfreecamsand Chaturbate. That is because their payout percentages are slightly lower, however, their traffic (and therefore your income potential) is higher. To see the full list of Top Sites (both camming and clip sites as well), head over here!
Passive income (Income received on a regular basis requiring minimal to no effort to maintain it) is something that many of us dream of. By contrast, “active” income takes consistent work, so live camming earnings is one example of active income. Being self-employed and making your own hours does afford you a lot of freedom to spend that time however you wish, so it’s best to spend it on things that will make you money long after the job is done. Clip-making/selling photos and videos and creating blogs require some upfront investment (your time), but then they can make you money indefinitely, literally in your sleep! 😴 If you want to expand your income opportunities WITHOUT having to rely 100% on your camming earnings, read on!
Top 3 Passive Income Ideas for Camgirls
1) Selling Your Photos and Videos on ManyVids
Arguably the BEST way to make passive income as a camgirl is to shoot videos and photos to later resell them on sites like ManyVids. You can also sell the same videos on Chaturbate or MFC for tokens or even create your personal site to make them available to even more people. The best thing is that you don’t need much equipment to get started. A webcam or a simple camcorder will work for videos and you can buy a basic DSLR camera to shoot professional-looking photos. Check out my post on how to get started making videos!
2) Posting Pics and Videos on OnlyFans
While it’s not completely passive, OnlyFans is a great platform to very easily make money with your sexy (or sensual!) pics and videos and do so without the hassle of trying to get members to pay and renew their subscription on time – that is done for you on OF. It also allows members to send you tips, and THAT’s where the passive component comes in. It’s great waking up to a tip or two. 🤑 Read my OnlyFans Beginners Tutorial here.
3) Camming Affiliate Programs
Last, but definitely not least, is making commissions from camming affiliates. It’s an underrated way to make great money, and if you do it right, it will create *absolutely* passive, long-term income without you having to lift a finger. You can so this by creating a camming-related blog (Read my post about it here) OR promoting your camsite of choice online on platforms like Twitter, Instagram or Reddit. Get creative! Make sure you’re following their terms and conditions before you begin, however, since you can be banned for posting adult-related content.
The first thing to do is to sign up to the various camming programs that you want to promote as a Webmaster/Affiliate. I recommend CrakRevenuefor its ease of use and its amazing offers!
The best-performing programs are those that pay you via “Revenue Sharing”, which means that they pay you a commission % of the revenue that you bring in through your link. Chaturbate and MFC have the highest RevShare commissions (20%!) and are the easiest to get started on though CrakRevenue, in my opinion. Click on the links to sign up:
