Non-Nude Camming: How to Succeed as a Non-Nude Cam Model!

Non-nude camgirl might seem like an oxymoron, because how can you make money without taking your clothes off or doing anything sexual on a camsite? The fact is, it is possible and can be VERY profitable if you find yourself on the right type of site and have the right approach. Here is how to make it work:

Your Choice of Cam Site is Important

Some sites are inherently better suited for non-nude camming. Before I go on, I want to split this term into two types: The Domme approach and the Girl-Next-Door approach. The “girl next door” angle works really well on Myfreecams where you are not necessarily expected to do a cum show or come online with a bunch of toys, contraptions and overly sexual lingerie, versus a site like Chaturbate that is more sexual and show-oriented. It also allows couples, which is one of its main draws, and hence will always be more sexual than MFC. MFC has a more relaxed, hangout atmosphere which some girls create in their room. There are of course plenty of sexual things going on as well, but MFC is your best bet out of all the camsites.

To be a Domme you need a certain personality and attitude. That, along with a bit of research, will get you accustomed to what submissive men desire from you online. There is a HUGE variety of things you can offer as a domme without taking your clothes off – JOI, CEI, Findom, Humiliation, Blackmail, etc. There is no camsite currently that is optimized for dommes, and while you can still log on MFC (there are a few very successful dommes like AstroDomina), the majority prefer to use social media and sell videos on either their own sites or sites like ManyVids and Customs4U. Another option is phone sex, with a site like NiteFlirt.

I will focus on what it takes to succeed on cam being non-nude and non-sexual or explicit, so tapping into that girl-next-door fantasy a lot of guys have.

Things to Do as a Non-Nude Model

❀ Establish a friendly atmosphere with the members watching you. How you do it is up to you, but try to showcase your personality versus your body (as obvious as that sounds), ban anyone who derails the conversation into a more sexual one or posts sexual gifs, and don’t forget to smile! A smile is the best ice breaker on cam. If it looks like you’re enjoying yourself, the tips will follow.

❀ Play games! Games are HUGE! Get a dry erase spinwheel and put it to good use. Play card games, Hangman, or even Battleship. Create your own to suit your personality. There are so many possibilities.

❀ Since you can’t do countdowns for clothes off or for cumshows, have countdowns for silly things like putting more clothes on or some sort of elaborate exercise routine, or hula hooping, or baking cookies! You need to give guys something to tip for, anything at all.

❀ Hold raffles and contests throughout the month. Raffles are a great way to make the guys excited and competitive, which translates into more tips for you for minimal work.

❀ To further solidify that member connection, send handmade presents/prizes in the mail, like custom drawings, if you’re artistic, custom polaroid pics, homemade treats or any other gift that you’ve put together yourself.

❀ Don’t forget about Skype! Even though lots of girls warn against Skype, that’s because there is a high chance of guys scamming you, DO hold special Skype hangout sessions with your best regulars. It seems to be the number one requested “prize”, since it gives them that exclusive one-on-one time with you.

❀ Keeping in touch with members outside of cam is important. Keep an active twitter, perhaps a personal blog, and snapchat your day-to-day happenings, which don’t need to be sexy at all!

Camming Advice for Beginners! Tips to Succeed from the Start

Below is some beginner advice for anyone starting out in webcamming!

I find it’s pretty important to be prepared before you jump into camming and there are certain mistakes newbies make, which can be prevented, so read on!

✳ ARE YOU READY?

First off, are you mentally and emotionally ready for this job? Yes, it can be easy money (See my post on how much money top camgirls make), but it doesn’t mean that this kind of success will be possible for everyone. You need to know in your mind what your personal reasons are for doing this job. If you think you’ll be making thousands from the start and rolling in cash, I urge you to reconsider, because you’ll be very disappointed to find it harder than you thought to get members to tip and to interact and keep coming back to your room. Because camming is getting more and more mainstream, more girls are joining cam sites (and more camsites are popping up in general), so there are a lot of girls to choose from and not as many members willing to pay with free porn readily available. Some members also have the “freeloader” mentality where they don’t feel they should pay girls for talking to them and they will let others finish countdowns and just, well, freeload.

So, knowing that you’ll have to put in a LOT of time (and a bit of money from the start by buying some essential equipment like webcam, lights, laptop, etc.) you will hopefully have more reasonable expectations about camming, and that if things are slow from the start, you will still push on and not give up. It takes dedication and time to build an audience, so don’t be disappointed if your earnings are low in the beginning.

✳ MARKETING

Another mistake new camgirls make is not knowing how to market themselves. Camming is so much more than turning on your webcam and looking pretty on cam. You need to assess your skills and what you can bring to the table (without forcing it!). You need to highlight the skills, interests and hobbies that you already have, and you’ll see that guys will naturally gravitate toward that. If you’re into gaming, show it! Talk about the new game you got on Steam or even stream it on cam (some sites have restrictions about streaming outside content, so be careful). If you’re into makeup and dressing up, perfect! Make every show an experience and really show your creative side. Even if you don’t have any “interesting” hobbies, you can still show your unique personality and make your room reflect that. So, the key is be yourself, but a “bigger” version of yourself, and do not try to force yourself into the sex kitten type that you feel you need to be on cam.

On the subject of marketing, you need to decide what your marketing strategy will be. Having a Twitter is a big one, which makes it easier to interact with your fans by posting pics and talking about the day-to-day things in your life. Some girls have Tumblrs where they can write longer posts and share more of themselves. Some girls even create their own sites where they have member content and shows. Come up with some sort of strategy of how you’ll be promoting yourself online, because these days members almost expect to be able to reach you offline and see more of you outside of cam.

✳ PRIVACY

A lot of girls start out in webcamming by being employed in another job or having other responsibilities, which take up the majority of their time and make it hard to manage a consistent schedule. This ties into my Number 1 rule of camming, which is consistency. If you don’t have it, you won’t be able to build up a consistent group of regulars and your earnings will suffer. What also happens when girls first start out is they don’t have the right physical place and time to cam from. You may still be living at home, or with roommates, or have kids in the house, which is fine when having a “regular” job, but may be very difficult with camming. You may get very little privacy and be forced to work really odd hours around any of these factors, which will be detrimental to your income. There is no easy way around it. You will either have to come clean about camming to the people you’re living with, or move out, or quit your day job. It’s a hard decision for sure, but unless you have privacy and time for cam, you won’t be able to reach your full potential.
When considering privacy, are you ready for the fact that your shows will be recorded and posted online? This happens to every camgirl, sadly, and there is no way to avoid it. The only thing you can do is either ignore it or sign up with the Cam Model Protection service that will take down your pics/screencaps/videos. Best Makeup for Camming

Looking your best translates to feeling your best on cam, and your viewers will pick up on your confident vibe resulting in more tips! Yes, sometimes the ‘I just rolled out of bed’ look works, but for a lot of us, we need some help by way of makeup!

Bright lights and moving around for hours can wreak havoc on your makeup making it literally slide off the face. You need something long-lasting ad with a fuller coverage, as you’ll notice that lights can wash you out making you look dull and not as fresh. Here are the camgirl tried-and-tested makeup products for looking your best on cam.

PRIMER

To make your makeup stay put all day, the first step is to use a primer. It really does give you a great base for the rest of your makeup. Some fantastic primers are silicone-based that feel like heaven on your skin, and there are others that are more mattifying or, on the other hand, give more moisture and glow. I would suggest going for a natural to mattifying effect, because you don’t want to look like a shining ball of light on cam. I recommend the Hourglass Mineral Veil Primer and the MAKE UP FOR EVER Step 1 Skin Equalizer Mattifying Primer.

FOUNDATION

Your foundation choice will depend on how much coverage you need. For those of us not born with perfect skin, going for a medium to full coverage is recommended, so that you look truly flawless on cam. My absolute go-to foundation is the MAKE UP FOR EVER Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation. It has buildable coverage that will cover all your flaws, from acne to scars, because it is specifically formulated to look best on HD television and in front of cameras and I can attest to the fact that it looks the most natural out of all foundations I’ve tried.

If you need fuller coverage because of hard-to-cover marks or acne, the best foundation to conceal it ALL is the Kat Von D Lock-It Tattoo Foundation. It is truly heavy duty and can cover up tattoos with no problem and will give you a perfectly even look on cam! While I think it can look too ‘flat’ and too full coverage for everyday life, on cam it will look just fine.

If you don’t have any skin problems, you can get away with pretty much any foundation as long as it’s not too dewy or shimmery, as that effect can get magnified on cam and make your face look oily.

CONCEALER

Once you’ve got your base, it’s time to conceal any imperfections like dark undereye circles or pimples. I recommend going for a heavy duty concealer, one that will stay on your face and not disappear or start to crease within a few hours. I recommend the MAKE UP FOR EVER Full Cover Concealer, and as its name suggests, it will cover *everything* and you won’t have to worry about any flaws being visible on cam. You can also use it on your body to cover up any scarring, bruising or pimples (sometimes they crop up in the worst places!). Another great choice is the Amazing Cosmetics Amazing Concealer. It stays 100% true to its name and is amazing at covering up any skin issues and looking very natural. You only need the tiniest amount of product to use, as it’s very highly pigmented.

HIGHLIGHTER, BRONZER, and BLUSH

To give your face dimension and get that flawless look, you need to do some contouring – a little highlighter, bronzer and blush will do the trick. Define your cheekbones with a bronzer and give your cheeks, forehead and chin a rosy glow with a blush. I recommend the NARS Laguna/Orgasm Duo, which is two of these products in one and is an iconic classic. Don’t be shy with your blush application, because even though it might look like you’re putting on way too much, it won’t show up as strongly on cam. Sweep some highlighter on your cheekbones, but don’t go too heavy, as the camera will pick up too much of the shine and make you look too shiny versus dewy and natural. I recommend the beautiful Becca Shimmering Skin Perfector in Champagne Pop for that perfect glow.

EYESHADOWS, EYELINERS, and MASCARA

Go for some bright and eye-catching colors when choosing your eyeshadows to accentuate your eyes and make you look more pretty and fresh overall. Don’t forget an eyeshadow primer to ensure the shadow stays put even after hours of camming. I recommend the Urban Decay Primer Potion, as it really locks in the color and will make your eyeshadow that much more longlasting.

Eyeliner is key to that cat eye look and will make you feel that much sexier. Go for waterproof liquid types versus pencils, like the Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eye Liner, and finish off with a black mascara to really visually open up your eyes. I love the Benefit Roller Lash Mascara.

EYEBROWS AND FALSE LASHES

Eyebrows, while not that important to be meticulously done, do give you a much more polished look and bring out your eyes. Go for the classic Anastasia Beverly Hills Dipbrow Pomade and lock it in place with the Benefit Gimme Brow Gel. One optional, but striking, finishing touch is to put on some false eyelashes. If you don’t have long black lashes naturally, you can fix it with some falsies that will give incredible length and volume to your lashes and make you look gorgeous. They’re reusable and not too pricey!

LIPSTICKS

Liquid lipsticks rule for camming due to their long lasting nature. Drinking, eating, or.. ahem.. doing a bj show won’t leave marks or flake off. My all-time favorites are the Kat Von D Everlasting Liquid Lipstick, Anastasia Beverly Hills Liquid Lipstick and the Lime Crime Velvetines. They all come in some beautiful shades, ranging from nude, mauve, to red, that looks fantastic and sexy on anyone’s lips.

POWDER AND FINISHING SPRAY

Dusting on some powder is the final step in the makeup application and is so crucial for camming, as it will lock all your makeup in place, reduce shine and make it last so much longer than it would otherwise. I notice that you appear more oily on camera than in real life, so the webcam picks up on any sheen you have on your face and looking oily is not a good look. I recommend the Laura Mercier Loose Setting Powder. To make your makeup completely bulletproof, Urban Decay has just the tool, the All Nighter Long-Lasting Makeup Setting Spray. Spray it on and your makeup will last through your longest cam session, even a camathon!

⋆ How to Become a Webcam Model – Beginner Camgirl Advice

“How do you become a cam model? Do you need any special equipment or have a certain look for it to work? How easy is it to get started and make that first paycheck?”

I had ALL of these questions when I was starting out camming years ago and this is what I’ve learned. Above all, if you’ve done your research, you’re already further ahead than an average camgirl, so read on!

MAKE SURE YOU:

Pick the Right Site! There is a wide variety of camsites: some older and more established, some new ones just starting up, and they all feel and work differently. My recommendations are joining Chaturbate and Myfreecams. Chaturbate is the more “sexual” of the two and also allows men and couples to stream. They both have a 50%+ payout percentage and high traffic (Chaturbate more so than MFC). Check out this post for a full list of camsites to join!

Have the Right Tools Ready! Being prepared ahead of time is key. Using your built-in webcam to stream is unfortunately not good enough. You need a good quality external webcam like a Logitech C920, which is my personal fave and is used by the majority of camgirls. Check out my post about the Top 3 webcams for camming for other great options. In terms of other tools, having great lighting is such a big part of the equation in looking good on cam, and looking your best will give you the best chance in tippers finding your room. You can see some of my lighting recommendation in this post. As well as having a webcam and a few umbrella lights, make sure your laptop can handle streaming and won’t die on you at the most inopportune moment. Make sure your internet connection is good as well!

Consider your Boundaries. Camming is a risky job. You WILL be recorded and uploaded to various sites, including porn sites, and this increases your risk of being seen by your co-worker, neighbor, old highschool friend. The way to minimize the risk is to minimize your exposure, so make sure you block your location on the site. A service like CamModelProtection can help you remove your recorded content that makes its way online. Another consideration is how comfortable are you in your sexuality and can you be on a site doing sexual things? You don’t have to be a sex kitten, but you need to feel ok about being watched naked, masturbating, etc. A lot of girls love the thrill!

Ok, so how do you REALLY become a full-fledged camgirl? What are the exact steps you should take?

No need to be anxious about trying out camming (a lot of guys actually really like a new, inexperienced girl!). Go through the steps below:

Step 1:

Sign up as a Model: Pick a site you’d like to try out (or 2! Nothing wrong with having options, and you get a chance to see what you like on each site). You’ll be asked to fill out your personal details and upload a photo ID to show that you are at least 18 years old. Approval time varies between sites, but you should get a notification in a day or two.

Step 2:

While you wait, make sure you’ve got some equipment ready that I’ve mentioned – an external webcam (I recommend Logitech C920), a set of umbrella lights (like the Limo Studio Umbrella Lights) and if you’d like – some cute lingerie and maybe a new toy or two. Pinkcherry is a great place to get all those! Beyond that, you just need to bring your personality and a lot of patience. 🙂

Speaking of patience, you’re going to need to give yourself time to succeed on a site. Don’t think that just because you see top models making hundreds of dollars an hour that you will get there overnight. You need months and months of consistent camming to build up an audience and ‘regulars’, guys who will tune in to watch you every time you’re on. Consistency is key! This is one of the biggest pieces of advice I can give an aspiring cam model. Of course, a bit of luck is important too. Just because you have the looks, the personality and the work ethic, you will not automatically have success, but it you’ve done your research and have all the things ready before broadcasting you give yourself the best chance of success!

Step 3:

Once you get approved, this is a good time to create a Twitter and an Amazon wishlist, and add some graphics to your model profile. While Twitter and wishlist are not required, promoting yourself on social media is so important to get yourself new tippers, unless of course, you prefer to keep things on the down-low, in which case you can do a protected twitter. Some girls even keep a tumblr and other blogs. It’s all up to you, so do what feels right. A word of warning: Make sure you don’t put your real address on your Amazon wishlist and either use a PO box or don’t add it at all. Your profile doesn’t need to be complicated – add some information about yourself and put up some eye-catching pics.

Step 4:

You’re ready to broadcast!I know it can be nerve-wracking to press that Broadcast button for the first time, but you gotta jump in and experience it. Remember, you’re in control, and you can sign out at any point, for any reason. If anyone is making you uncomfortable or is being rude or demanding, don’t be afraid to ban them. Put on whatever will make you most comfortable, apply some nice makeup, if you wear it, and click that button! There is going to be a lot of learning going on in the first few months, and you’ll probably make a lot of mistakes, which all of us do, but practice makes perfect! When you’re on cam, my biggest tip is to smile! Yes, it’s so simple, but a lot of new girls don’t realize how unapproachable they look without a smile.

To get some conversation going, you can ask guys some small-talk general questions, or say something interesting about yourself and someone will jump into the conversation. Set your “room topic” to some sort of token countdown. For example, “Top off in 555! 50=Flash, 100=Fansign, 30=Spanks”. You are giving guys something to tip for and get them interacting. A dance and some teasing is a good way to get people in the room, I find. It’s a good idea to watch other models to see what they put in their topics and what kinds of countdowns work.

Step 5:

First cam shift is over! Pat yourself on the back. Now you can start thinking about what you may do the next time you’re on. It’s a good idea to offer tipping incentives for guys to tip offline, because it can boost your camscore on a site like MFC, and of course makes you more money. A very popular option these days is offering a Snapchat or an OnlyFans subscription on a monthly basis. If you can commit to sending out pics every day/a few times a week, it’s a good option. Another option is to make photosets and videos. I recommend setting up an account on Manyvids to sell them there. This is a great option to make that passive income! You can also do a raffle, which are really popular on MFC, and they can be for anything – a custom video, a Skype, homemade cookies shipped directly to the winner! (Be careful about not giving away your real address when doing this).

What is camming and what does it take to be a webcam model? If you’re checking this out, you might have an idea of what it entails and probably want to know more. Read on!

Camming (or web camming) is signing up on an adult site like Myfreecams or Chaturbate and broadcasting your webcam while usually doing something sexual, like teasing, stripping, full-on masturbating and getting tipped in tokens by those who watch you. However, there is SO much more to it than that! You can even be an absolutely non-nude model, if that’s what you want. There is a vast amount and variety of cam sites out there right now and they all have their own “culture”, rules, and things that differentiate them.

Having been camming on MFC for 2+ years and hearing about other girls’ experiences on other popular camsites like Chaturbate and Streamate, I can tell you that if you’re somewhat hesitant about doing very sexual things, but still want to experience the world of camming (and potentially earn some very good money!), MFC is the way to go. 2) Girls can’t get out of the industry when they want to, are stuck, or are forced into camming – FALSE

You see the comparison to sex slavery when it comes to camming, which is a wholly different thing and has no relation to the camming you do in the comfort of your own home in front of your laptop. Unless you sign up through an agency*, there is NO camsite that will keep you locked into any contract, and you can leave at ANY time and any point that you choose. Successful models who stay in the camming industry do so because they LOVE it.

*Beware of this, girls! Sign up independently instead of an agency. Agencies take a large percentage of your earnings for themselves and don’t offer you much benefit in return.

3) It’s degrading and there’s no way you can feel good about yourself doing this job – FALSE

You can feel all sorts of great feelings about the job that you’re doing, the “service” you provide (whether it be sensual, sexual, or just social), and the difference you’re making in your own life and often the lives of your viewers. It’s like being a part-time friend, entertainer, and (sometimes) a psychologist in one! As long as you are open-minded about sex, and you don’t have negative feelings going in, there is no reason you should feel bad about camming. Working a minimum wage job where you get no respect is a much more degrading way to earn a living.

4) This will ruin your future and will leave you without a potential way out or a long-term career – ON THE FENCE

Depending on your age and what your plans for the future are, camming might make it more difficult for you to get a job either because of the blank in your resume due to camming, or because there are jobs that will frown upon any type of sex work, such as working with children, or working for the government. It’s up to you to decide if camming will be your full-time career (yes, it’s possible!), a temporary job that will finance other projects, or something that lets you travel or pay off loans before you go back into the working world.

Having addressed the misconceptions, here are just some of the reasons why you might want to start camming:

Freedom to do what you want whenever you want – 100% control of your time!
Being your own boss – it’s pretty great
Developing personal and socials skills, like speaking, relating to people better, organizing yourself
Learning about and enjoying your sexuality
Feeling empowered – you are in control. If you don’t like a client, just exit out, ban, etc. That’s not something you can do in the “real world”.
Being able to make A LOT of money at a young age and be totally financially independent.
