Camgirl Lighting Tips – 3 Best Lights for Camming

In addition to having a great webcam, you need to remember that lighting is a REALLY important factor in looking your best on cam (and making that cash!). If you ever see a girl who’s ‘glowing’ and looking beautiful and clear, it’s likely that she is using special studio lights. No worries, they are not that complicated and can be bought on Amazon! So, what are the best lights to use while camming? This diagram shows that you ideally need 3 lights to light yourself with, also called the “3 Point Lighting Setup”.

LIGHTING SETUP

I would say that 2 specialty umbrella lights (“key” light and “fill” light) and your room’s overheard light or sunlight from a window (“back” light) will be enough and will give you a GREAT advantage over someone without extra equipment. Don’t overthink it too much, just make sure you’ve got a few umbrella lights illuminating you.

So, you’ve got yourself the best webcam and lighting kit, but feel like you want to up your camgirl game? Here are some advanced tools to get you there!

You’ve heard of umbrella lights, but if you want impeccable lighting, it might be worth looking into SOFTBOXES. They are used by professional photographers and while they are bulkier and harder to store, they do give off amazing diffused light that will give you that perfect glowy look on cam and hide any shadows and imperfections. Another interesting tool to have on the advanced side of things is a GREEN SCREEN! Just like the screens used for special effects for movies and tv, you can create some really fun shows with a green screen and a webcam software, like Manycams, to edit the background with whatever video or images you want. I’ve even seen this done to create a “realistic” library scene, when camming from actual libraries were banned! You can get as creative as you want!

How to Generate Passive Income by Selling your Videos and Photos Online

Do I need to have professional shooting equipment for my videos to be successful?

No. Anyone can do it. However, you cannot rely on a cheap webcam to shoot your videos and for them to turn out well. It simply won’t create nice quality videos, and you’ll be shooting yourself in the foot (pun intended) having to work with equipment that won’t give you best results. Do I need to have any special video editing software for my videos to look good?

Yes and no. Having a quality laptop is one of the best tools a camgirl can have. It’s better to invest from the start (or to upgrade a slow and lagging laptop) than having to deal with a constantly breaking or inefficient one. Remember, time is money, and if you have to take your laptop in for repairs, that is wasted time that you’ll never get back.

What should you look for in a laptop you’ll use for camming?

RAM: 8 GB and above. Stands for random-access memory and it’s what will keep your laptop running smoothly when you have lots of tabs open, music streaming, and cam broadcasting at the same time.
Hard Drive: 1TB or more. That’s where all your files are stored. A large enough hard drive lets you save thousands of HD photos, videos you make, songs and movies on your laptop. For reference, a 500GB hard drive (half of 1 TB) lets you hold up to 140,000 pictures, 130,000 songs, or 400 movies. So, if you’re planning on storing a lot of cam-related pics and videos (and they tend to be quite big in size!), go for a 1TB hard drive.
Size and Weight. This is up to you, but a laptop with a display size of 13″ to 15″ is more portable and easier to move around the house when you cam from different location and also take with you when you travel. Weight is a similar issue, anything under 5 lbs will be more portable.
Processor: Intel Core i7 is the way to go. If you ever feel like your current laptop is “too slow”, then you need to upgrade to Intel Core i7 processor.

You may have noticed that I haven’t mentioned built-in webcams, and that is because you cannot rely on your laptop’s webcam for camming. The quality will NEVER be as good as an external webcam, such as a Logitech C920, which is, in my opinion, the best webcam for cam models.
